Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal was deceiving Punjabis in the same manner as done by the Congress party by forcing them to fill forms to register themselves to avail of the Rs 1,000 per month scheme it had announced for women.
Addressing two rallies at Tapa and Sunam, in support of party candidates Satnam Singh Rahi (Bhadaur) and Baldev Mann respectively, the SAD President said “earlier Capt Amarinder Singh also got forms filled to give jobs to each household in Punjab. You know the outcome. Now again Kejriwal is going down the same path by launching bogus camps to fill forms to avail of the Rs 1,000 per month allowance announced by the party for women. “I want to ask Kejriwal. Will only women who fill the forms get the benefit of the scheme? If not, then why are you trying to befool Punjabis in this manner? Mr Badal also questioned the Delhi chief minister as to why he had not implemented the same scheme in Delhi.
Asserting that Kejriwal wanted to rule over Punjab by hook or by crook, Mr Badal said “this is why AAP has not announced any face for the chief minister’s chair. It is proceeding to announce the name of a dummy so that Kejriwal can grab the chief minister’s chair himself if elected to power”. He said Punjabis had however seen through this conspiracy and would never tolerate a rank outsider as their chief minister. “This is why people are leaving AAP in such big droves”, he said adding “you will see further desertions in the coming days”.
Speaking about chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the SAD president said “the lesser said about him the better. He is trying to depict himself as an ‘aam aadmi’ whereas the true facts are that he has amassed huge wealth by delineating illegal colonies in the Kharar-Ropar belt besides engaging in sand mining and various other forms of corruption”. He said even the announcements of the chief minister were a sham and were being ridiculed all over the State. “Channi claims that sand is being sold at Rs 5.5 per cubic feet but the actual price if Rs 25 per cubic feet. Similarly he is going around announcing projects and works of thousands of crores but no money is being released for the same. All announcements of Channi remain on paper only”, he added.
Meanwhile honouring the demand of Sunam residents, the SAD president announced to build a state-of-the-art multi specialty government medical college and hospital in the city in memory of Shaheed Udham Singh once the SAD-BSP government was formed in the State. He also assured people of Tapa that a multipurpose stadium and a college would be constructed in Bhadaur constituency.
Responding to a query related to employees’ strike across the state, the SAD president said: “I would appeal to all government employees to wait for the 2-3 months and not expect any justice from this arrogant government. Once the SAD-BSP alliance forms the government in Punjab, we’ll call all of them and give them their dues with utmost respect and regard.” While addressing the gatherings at Tapa and Sunam Mr Badal also shared his vision for Punjab, mentioning 13 points agenda for the state’s growth and also divulged schemes for the trade and industry.
Activists of Student Organization of India (SOI) gave a rousing reception to the SAD president at Tapa as well as at Sunam. With Kesari flags in hands, the motorcyclists kept raising Sukhbir Badal Zindabad slogans throughout the road shows. During the two rallies, various people from Congress and AAP joined the SAD and the party president welcomed them with an assurance to give due responsibilities in the party. Among others, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sikander Singh Maluka, Iqbal Singh Jhundan, Tejinder Singh Sanghreri, Gobind Singh Longowal, Winnerjit Singh Goldy and Gulzari Moonak were also present on the occasion.
