Commissionerate Police busts inter state gang involved in smuggling of drugs
- Arrests one with 10 kg opium and 20’kg poppy husk

Cracking down on drug peddlers in the district, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police today bust an inter state gang involved in supply of opium and poppy husk with arrest of two smugglers and recovery of 10 kilograms (kg) Opium and 20 kg poppy husk from them.
Divulging more details, the Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on a tip off CIA Staff-I had laid a trap on GT Road near Gurdwara Attarsar sahib, Sahnewal when they stopped a truck bearing number PB 05 Y 6401 coming from Mandi Gobindgarh side. He said that on the search of truck in presence of ADCP Mr Mandeep Singh the Police recovered 10 kg opium and 20 kg poppy husk from the truck. Mr Bhullar said that said that Gurjinder Singh s/o Hari Singh was driving the truck and was arrested on the spot.
The Commissioner of Police said that during the investigation Gurjinder Singh revealed that he had been carrying out this smuggling from last two years along with owner of truck Pavittar Singh alias Rana. He said that Gurjinder revealed that they used to purchase opium and poppy husk from Jharkhand and used to sell them in Jagraon area at exorbitant rates. Mr Bhullar said that cases have earlier been registered against Rana in Ludhiana and Sangrur under NDPS Act.
The Commissioner of Police said that Police parties have been formed to nab Pavitar Singh. Likewise, he said that further investigation is being done into the case from Gurjinder Singh. Mr Bhullar reiterated that severest of severe action will be ensured against persons involved in heinous trade of drugs.
